Here's where you can hear my playing. I'm working on making live recordings available. These are from the album "Time for a New Dance Floor" by Ray and the Detonators. Sadly, Ray moved away and the band did not continue, but I produced the record and am very proud not only of my playing, but of producing it.
On cover tunes, my philosophy is to take something and make it my own. I never try to copy a song note for note. That's not to say some songs don't have elements that must be present, particularly in popular songs. But I believe trying to cop an original's tone or playing note for note robs both the audience and me of an opportunity to take a fresh look at a classic, and share my point of view. So you'll never hear me say "How do I get xxx's tone?" I never do that.
I'm, a firm believer in preparation for performance. I think we learn songs on our own and learn to play them together at rehearsal and I prepare accordingly. I try to be a pro in every situation and I set very high standards for myself. One of the advantages of playing with so many superior people is you have to raise your game and I owe them all a debt of gratitude for instilling, by example, those standards in me.
I hope your enjoy the music and find yourself interested in me and my playing.
